The Problem
Before these flows existed, a lot of work across HR, change management, fraud handling, and compliance reporting was repetitive and manual — filling out email templates by hand, tracking new hires through paper-style checklists, logging change management requests manually, and compiling compliance data without a repeatable process.
What I Built
I designed and built 30+ production Power Automate flows automating deterministic, repeatable processes across four domains: HR onboarding, change management/ITSM ticketing, fraud intake, and compliance reporting. This is an ongoing effort — I continue building new automations, and the flow count and time savings keep growing.
How It Works
- HR onboarding: automates the new-hire tracking checklist HR previously managed manually, saving the HR team significant recurring time per hire (note: account creation/provisioning itself is a separate process, not part of this automation)
- Change management requests: intake moved from a fully manual process to a Microsoft Forms submission, which automatically creates and routes the ticket from there
- Fraud intake: a Microsoft Forms submission triggers notification to the appropriate personnel, logs the submission to a SharePoint list for audit and historical record, and generates weekly summary reports of submissions
- Compliance reporting: queries Azure Log Analytics Workspace (LAW) for sign-ins and other actions tracked by compliance regulators, then emails the resulting reports to the appropriate parties on a recurring basis
- Built on deterministic, repeatable trigger patterns — app-based (Forms submissions) and recurrence-based (scheduled queries/reports)
- Connectors used across the flow set: Dataverse, SharePoint, Microsoft Forms, HTTP actions (for API calls), Word Online, Outlook (send email), and calendar invites
Impact
- 30+ flows now in production across HR, change management, fraud intake, and compliance reporting
- Approximately 200 hours per year saved, measured across the flows in production to date — and growing, since new automations are continuously being added
- Replaced fully manual, error-prone processes (email templates, manual checklists, manual ticket logging) with consistent, auditable, repeatable workflows
- Fraud submissions now generate an audit trail automatically via SharePoint logging, supporting compliance and historical record-keeping
Roadmap
Continuing to build additional automations as new repetitive processes are identified — the ~200 hours/year figure reflects current production flows only and is expected to grow.
