The following labs were completed as hands-on preparation for the MS-102: Microsoft 365 Administrator Essentials exam. All exercises were performed in a personal, paid Microsoft 365 test tenant using official lab instructions from the MicrosoftLearning GitHub repository and Microsoft Learn interactive exercises.
- Lab 1 – Tenant Initialization, Users, Groups & DomainConfigure the M365 org profile, enable audit logging and IRM, create admin accounts and groups, and add a custom domain.
- Lab 2 – Roles, Monitoring & Microsoft 365 AppsManage admin roles and role groups, monitor service health and activity, and configure M365 Apps deployment settings.
- Lab 3 – Identity SynchronizationPrepare on-premises Active Directory and implement Microsoft Entra Connect to sync identities to the cloud.
- Lab 4 – Secure User Access & Privileged Identity ManagementConfigure smart lockout and MFA, then implement and test three PIM role activation workflows and assign Azure resource roles.
- Lab 5 – Microsoft Defender for Office 365Configure Safe Attachments with Dynamic Delivery and Safe Links policies to protect against malicious email content.
- Lab 6 – Alert Policies & Attack Simulation TrainingCreate compliance alert policies for mailbox and SharePoint activity, run phishing and password spray simulations, and validate results.
- Lab 7 – Retention PoliciesCreate and manage retention policies and labels in Microsoft Purview to enforce data lifecycle governance.
- Lab 8 – Data Loss PreventionCreate DLP policies in Microsoft Purview and validate enforcement by testing against sensitive data scenarios.
- Lab 9 – Sensitivity LabelsCreate sensitivity labels with encryption and visual markings and publish them through label policies to pilot users.
- Lab 10 – Conditional AccessBuild and test Conditional Access policies including location-based blocking and Intune device compliance integration.
- Lab 11 – Authentication MethodsConfigure Microsoft Entra authentication methods including MFA, SSPR, and passwordless options.
